Six things, chosen carefully.

Marigold makes a small range for three stretches of becoming a mother, trying, feeding, and the weeks after birth. We're pre-launch, which means you can reserve at the founding price and we'll write to you when it ships.

The good versions of these things exist. They just don't arrive here.

If you go looking for a decent full-body pregnancy pillow, a pair of hot-and-cold breast packs, or postpartum underwear that clears a caesarean scar, you find two options and not much in between. There's a cheap end that doesn't hold up: pillows that flatten in a fortnight, waistbands that sit right across the scar. And there's an imported end where you're paying for the flight as much as the product. Marigold is the middle: the same brief as the good imported version, made closer to home, priced accordingly.

What has to be true before we'll make something

We'd rather have six things we can stand behind than sixty we can't.

It solves a real, specific moment

Not "wellness". A named problem on a named day, the fortnight your nipples are cracked, the night the milk comes in, the first week you can't bend to get dressed.

We can say what it doesn't do

If a product only works when described vaguely, we don't want it. Everything here has a limits section, and we wrote those before we wrote the sales copy.

The failure modes are known

We read the reviews of everything already on the market and fix what people actually complain about. Most of this category fails in the same four or five predictable ways.

It's worth the price we'd have to charge

If we can't make a meaningfully better version at a price that isn't silly, we leave it. That's why the range is six and not sixteen.

Who actually makes this

We don't own a factory, and we're not going to imply we do. Marigold products are made to our specification by manufacturers who already make this category well, the same kind of arrangement behind most of the brands you already buy, said out loud.

What we control is the brief: the height of a waistband, the loft of a filling, how many strips are in a box, what the instructions say. Those are the decisions that make the difference between a product you keep using and one you replace, and they're the ones we spend our time on.

If you want to know who makes a particular item, ask us and we'll tell you.

Where we stop

Nothing here is a medical device or a treatment, and we won't describe it as one. We don't diagnose, we don't cure, and we're not a substitute for a midwife, a lactation consultant or a doctor. When something needs one of those instead of us, the page says so.

What "pre-book" actually means

  • You pay nothing now. A pre-book leaves your name and email against a product and holds the founding price for you.
  • 25% off retail, held until we ship. When the range launches, the price goes to retail. Yours doesn't.
  • We write to you when it's real. One email when your product ships, and not much else.
  • It helps us decide what to make first. How many people reserve which product is genuinely how we plan the first production run.
